About Greenfield, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Greenfield is one of many lovely towns in this section of Indiana.  This area is beautiful, historical and family-friendly. All around are lovely old brick buildings, gorgeous churches and architecture and landscapes that you simply can’t look away from.  Greenfield, in particular, is a lovely place to raise a family with a lot of community activities and seasonal weather to enjoy.  Enjoy each season’s special joys as they pass.

Each October, as the weather cools and the leaves begin to fall, the town holds the Riley Festival. The craft festival is one of the largest in the state of Indiana and is meant to be a time of fun and entertainment for all. There is food, a flea market, commercial booths and more. At the festival, there is everything from a beauty pageant to a fiddler’s contest.  There is also a parade and a Mayor’s breakfast.  The festival is celebrated to commemorate James Whitcomb Riley, a renowned poet born and raised in the town. There is a statue erected in his honor in the center of town where schoolchildren lay flowers at the end of the festival’s parade each year.

This town’s seasonal weather, scenery and general atmosphere are wonderful.  However, it’s not just a charming town but also a town rich with history.  Greenfield was established in 1828 as the county seat of Hancock County. Early settlers of this town lived on the shores of two creeks which flow south through the town. U.S. Route 4 was built through the county less than 10 years later, in 1835.  This road was primarily used by wagon trains carrying livestock west. Later, in 1853, the first steam railroad was built by the Indiana Central Railroad and it became a part of the Pennsylvania Railroad System.  In 1876, Greenfield was incorporated as a city and then, in 1887, natural gas was discovered in the area. With that discovery, came a boom in population as well as in the economy and local industry.
